Family, friends and guests enjoy cross country skiing, tobogganing and snowboarding, old fashioned ice skating on the lake or ponds, and if adventurous, even ice boat sailing.
This was often followed up with a relaxing hot rocks sweat up on Shaman's Bluff and get ready for an evening of fine natural gourmet food and music.
Because of the Ley Line influence and the Tropical Fen ecosystem, Philoxia's winters are almost perfect. It's not so cold, yet by December the lake and our ponds are well frozen, often times clear as glass, where you can actually see fish, frogs and clams moving under the twelve or more inches of early ice.
Each year, the weather conditions are different causing our annual skating rinks to be completely unique and exciting. Late December to January, the ice gets to be some 18-20 inches thick, making it very safe to skate the full length of the lake when conditions are right. Iilah has designed many new winter activities including a renewed old time favorite, ice sailing with 3 people on one skip.
Winter guests to Philoxia experienced real ol'fashioned winter play, clean and sweet. Imagine a winter show with snow, sleighs, hay rides and ice or drift sailing, an exciting and unknown sport that is very adventurous.
Whether you have a hundred people or just two, skating down this Ley Line lake at night, with torches lit,,, my God,,, it'll put a tear to your eye and a smile on your face.
